Coldplay Deny Plagiarism Claims

Coldplay have denied claims that the melody for new song 'Viva La Vida' (also the title track from their new album) was stolen from another song by an American band.

Earlier today, Andrew Hoepfner who is the frontman of Creaky Boards, claimed that Coldplay singer Chris Martin saw the band live in Summer 2007 and then used the melody from his track 'The Songs I Didn't Write'.

However, a statement from the Coldplay camp says that 'Viva La Vida' was written in March 2007 before the gig was said to be held.

The statement also explains how at the time of the show, Coldplay weren't even in America - but were in London, England working in AIR Studio.

'Viva La Vida' is the current number 1 UK album.
